About this product
A 220 VAC mains step-down transformer with a center-tapped secondary rated 18V-0-18V at 1000 mA. It suits linear power supply projects and DIY circuits that need a dual-polarity supply after rectification and regulation. Mains wiring is dangerous, so use proper insulation and enclosure.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get a ±18V DC supply from this transformer?
Use a full-wave bridge rectifier with the center tap as 0 V, then add filter capacitors and regulators. Unregulated peaks on each side are roughly 25 V under light load, so choose capacitors and regulators rated above that.
Should the center tap be connected to ground?
Yes. In a dual-supply circuit the center tap is the 0 V reference, so it is normally connected to the circuit ground that the positive and negative rails are measured from.
