About this product

The 7905 is a three-terminal fixed negative linear voltage regulator that outputs -5V at up to 1A. It provides local on-board regulation and is used in split supplies that need a negative rail alongside a +5V rail, such as op-amp circuits. It includes thermal overload and short-circuit protection and comes in a TO-220 package that needs a heatsink at higher currents.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of 7905 Negative Voltage Regulator -5V 1A TO-220 (L7905CV) in Egypt?

7905 Negative Voltage Regulator -5V 1A TO-220 (L7905CV) currently costs between 7 and 11.4 EGP across 3 offers in Egypt.

Where can I buy 7905 Negative Voltage Regulator -5V 1A TO-220 (L7905CV) in Egypt?

7905 Negative Voltage Regulator -5V 1A TO-220 (L7905CV) is available from Makers Electronics, Microohm, and UGE. Compare the offers above to find the best price.

How do I wire the 7905 regulator?

Pin 1 is the common GND, pin 2 is the input and pin 3 is the -5V output. The input must be a negative voltage several volts more negative than -5V. Typical datasheet circuits add about 0.33 uF on the input and 0.1 uF on the output, placed close to the regulator.

Do I need a heatsink?

At higher output currents or a large difference between input and output voltage, yes. The power the regulator dissipates equals (Vin minus Vout) multiplied by the output current, and this heat must be removed through a heatsink.
