How do I wire a common anode 7-segment display?
Connect the common anode pin(s) to the positive supply, and drive each segment pin low through its own current-limiting resistor to light that segment. Commonly used resistors are around 220 to 330 Ω for a 5V supply. Use a transistor per digit when multiplexing.
Can an Arduino drive this display directly?
Yes for a single digit with resistors on each segment. For two digits, multiplexing with transistors on the digit common pins works, while a driver IC such as MAX7219 can reduce the number of wires and code needed.
