Frequently asked questions

How do I wire a 4-pin tactile switch to a microcontroller?

Connect one pin to the microcontroller input and the diagonally opposite pin to GND. Enable the internal pull-up (INPUT_PULLUP on Arduino) so the input reads HIGH when released and LOW when pressed. Diagonal pins are used because the two pins on each side are internally connected.

Does this switch need debouncing?

Yes. Mechanical contacts bounce for a few milliseconds when pressed or released, which can cause multiple readings. Use a software debounce delay of roughly 10 to 20 ms, or a hardware RC filter if your design requires it.
