How do the male and female parts work together?
The male part is mounted on the PCB, and the female plug with screw terminals carries the wires and plugs onto the male header. This allows the wiring to be removed without desoldering.
Is the 5.0 mm pitch compatible with standard 2.54 mm headers?
No. The 5.0 mm pitch does not match the 2.54 mm (0.1 inch) pitch used by standard pin headers and jumper wires, so it needs a PCB footprint designed for this terminal block.
